2.08. 2020 New approval as cooperating PGD centre together with MGC Munich

For several years we have been the only licensed centre for preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PID) in cooperation with the Medical Genetic Centre (MGC) in Munich (Prof. E. Holinski-Feder, PD Dr. A. Abicht) and have already been able to help a number of couples. Within the scope of a costly re-licensing by the Bavarian State Ministry for Health and Social Affairs, we have now received our licence again.

3.08. 2020 Recertification as Clinical Endometriosis Centre (II)

Our Clinical Endometriosis Centre (II) has been dealing with the care of patients with endometriosis for many years, also in the context of a desire to have children. We are very pleased that it has now been recertified by both the German and European Endometriosis Leagues.

4.08.05.2020 - Concession extension to the main departments of surgery and gynaecology

Last week we have received the permission extension (§30 GewO) for our clinic from the health department of the city of Cologne. After that, two inpatient departments will be restructured into main departments, thereby improving the structural offer of the PAN Clinic. This is the main department of surgery with the subdivisions of general and hernia surgery, neurosurgery, vascular surgery and the main department of gynaecology with the subdivisions of operative gynaecology and senology.

We are pleased that we can make our offer even more comprehensive for you.

5.Coronavirus: NEW

Dear patients and visitors,

Our fertility centre treats several thousand couples every year and in many cases helps them to have a healthy child.

In this way, we are fulfilling a wish that couples have often harboured for a long time. At the same time, however, we take our healthcare mission very seriously and want you to know, especially in times of crisis, that we are still here for you.We have taken precautions to ensure that the reception, waiting rooms and all other clinic areas are safe places for you to be. We guarantee the highest possible standard of hygiene with maximum effort.

Based on previous experience, we assume that compared to other viral infections, there is no raised risk of pregnancy in the case of a possible infection with Coronavirus Covid 19. There is no information that the expected child can be infected with the virus during pregnancy. This also corresponds to the confirmed, current recommendations of the German company for Gynaecology and Obstetrics:  https://www.dggg.de

  • We try to keep the time we spend in the practice rooms to a minimum. Help us reduce the number of contacts as much as possible.
  • Regular hygiene measures by our employees are important in order to break the chains of infection. Mouth protection and gloves as well as regular surface disinfection are primarily for your safety.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly - before and also after visiting the doctor - to protect yourself and others. You are also welcome to use our disinfection dispensers on each floor directly at the elevator.
  • Please remember the cough and sneeze etiquette (inner elbow/handkerchief).
  • Use only disposable wipes when necessary.
  • Consult your doctor or the personnel if you are unsure.

Thank you for your support. By doing so, you will help fight the spread of the Coronavirus.

We are and remain your contact for your health in good times, but also in difficult times. You can count on that.

6.08.01.2020 - Artificial intelligence helps find the optimal embryo in in-vitro fertilisation

Our modern embryoscope (incubator) allows a complete monitoring of the embryos and their development. For this purpose, images are taken of each embryo in a short time interval in several focal planes. At certain times the cells divide and on the fifth day a blastocyst is formed. The potential of an embryo for pregnancy can be calculated from the individual intervals of cell division using comparative data from up to 80,000 parameters. More recent approaches include automatic image recognition to determine cell division events. The data thereby obtained can be evaluated by a highly complex algorithm that calculates the chances of the embryos one by one. The resulting pregnancies can be communicated to the algorithm so that it constantly learns (deep learning) and makes better and better recommendations. We are currently in the process of establishing this new method for our patients.
